Today I realised my AP from Linksys (WRT54GL) is dead. While trying to connect my gf's MacMini to the wireless network in our apartment, things started to get wierd. First, the password was wrong, which I reseted 10 seconds ago, doh! Second, I checked to see if the "status" on my wifi is OK. Surprise, there was no signal on the TX and 35 packet errors. I tried the following to get it back to life:

- re-flashed the firmware, twice (dd-wrt.v24_std_generic.bin, and then dd-wrt.v24_vpn_generic.bin)
- reset to default factory setting and reconfigured
- dozens of wireless configuration tweaks

Nothing worked. It seems the wireless module is broken. As far as I can remember, the AP was at my mom's. There was a sudden loss of power on the lines and when it came back my mom called to ask me to check it. She was unable to connect to the wireless network. I gave her a backup solution and forget about the event. So, my conclusion is that the power failure kicked my router in the nuts

Now I only have a router, no more wireless, no more space free connection

Damn you power line, and damn you Linksys... for no obvious reason, just for making stuff that breakes if you cut their power

I'm sad.
